Michael (Mike) W. Choncek, 79, of Adrian, PA, passed away peacefully after a long illness on Friday, August 15, 2025, with his wife by his side, surrounded by family and friends. He was born on May 19, 1946 in Kittanning, the son of Chester and Alma (Greenawalt) Choncek. Mike retired from R&P Coal Company as a mine foreman. He proudly served in the U.S. Marine Corp during the Vietnam era. An active member of St. Mark’s Lutheran Church where he served many terms on counsel, property committee and finance committee. Mike enjoyed riding his Harley with his wife and group of friends (you know who you are). If you knew Mike you knew what he was thinking because he never held back, an honest man. He made the most wonderful memories at the Outer Banks (OBX) with great friends and family for over 40 years, where days were spent surf fishing with a cold beer on the Point.
Memories of Mike will live on by his loving wife of 55 years, Cheryl (Cheri) (Wolfe) Choncek, whom he married April 24, 1970; brother, Butch Choncek and sister Sally Henry; and brother-in-law Bud Wolfe and wife, Dianna; and close friends; and numerous nieces and nephews whom he loved dearly and unconditionally.
He was preceded in death by two infant sons; his parents; brothers Dick and John; sisters Patty and Gloria; in-laws George and Nellie Wolfe; and close friend Ken (Mac) McPherson.
Happy Trails Michael.
Friends will be received on Tuesday August 19, 2025 at St. Mark's Lutheran Church from 10:00 A.M. until the time of a funeral service at 2:00 P.M. with Pastor Matthew Vatalare officiating. Interment is in St. Mark's Lutheran Church Cemetery
