Mindy Riggle Obituary

Mindy Sue (Stivason) Riggle, 69, of Kittanning, went home to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, Saturday, October 16th, 2021, surrounded by her loving family.

She was born April 20th, 1952 in Kittanning, a daughter of the late Hubert L. Stivason and Joanna (Slagle) Stivason. She was a lifelong resident of Armstrong County.

Mindy earned a bachelor's and master's degree in education from Indiana University of Pennsylvania . She was employed as an elementary school teacher for 5 years, until the birth of her daughter, when she began her most important and cherished job as a stay at home mother. After her son entered Kindergarten, she returned to her career in education as a substitute teacher for a short time . She worked for over 20 years at Family Psychological Associates, retiring from the role as Program Director in 2018.

Mindy has been a member of Harvest Church in Kittanning since 2003, active as a member of the welcome team and a prior nursery caregiver.

Mindy's pride and joy was her family. She was her children and grandchildren’s  biggest supporters, attending every single game, performance, and activity they were involved with. She loved all holidays, especially Christmas, and found great pleasure in decorating her home for each one. Mindy loved the opportunity to give to others, putting great thought, time, and love into each gift.

Mindy is survived by her husband Eugene A. Riggle, whom she married on July 6th, 1974. After 47 years of marriage, their dedication and love for each other was a true testimony of Christian commitment and love to all who knew them. She is also survived by her two children, Emily (Paul) Hilles and Adam (Jessica) Riggle of Kittanning; five grandchildren, Madison and Luke Crossley, Lily and Isla Riggle, and Sophia Hilles; two step-grandchildren, Matthew and Breeawna Hilles; four sisters, Karen Spanedda, Lynn Murray, Leslie (Jack) Bittner, Ellen (Doug) Nixon; one sister-in-law Nancy (James) Porterfield; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; sisters-in-law Shirley Davis and Janet Bernaky and brothers-in-law Arthur Riggle and Dennis Spanedda.

A special thanks goes out to the staff at UPMC St. Margaret for providing exceptional care and comfort to Mindy, throughout her battle with cancer, as well as in her final days.
