Reva L. Hornberger, 98, of Tidal, passed away on Tuesday, April 13, 2021 at Premier Armstrong Rehabilitation & Nursing Facility in Kittanning. Born on May 25, 1922 in Redbank, she was the daughter of the late Paul D. and Jessie R. (Keefer) Shuster. Mrs. Hornberger married James O. Hornberger on January 30, 1942 at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church in Kittanning. He preceded in her in death on April 14, 2001. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Hornberger was preceded in death by her son, Wayne Hornberger, who passed away in 2019, brother, Marion Shuster, who passed away in 2010, and son-in-law, Gregory McBryde, who passed away in 2015.
Mrs. Hornberger was a lifelong member of St. Mary’s Episcopal Church in Redbank, where she played the organ for many years. In 1998, she was recognized by Bishop Hathaway for all her years of work at St. Mary’s Church. She graduated from East Brady High School in 1938, taking the train from Redbank to East Brady each day.
She will be missed by her two children: son, Gary Hornberger, of Tidal, and daughter, Barbara McBryde, of New Kensington. Also surviving is her daughter-in-law, Rose Hornberger, of Tidal; grandchildren, Kim Pride and husband Keith, of Philadelphia, Cheri Hornberger and Tim Shaffer, of Fairmount City, Scott McBryde (Kim), of California, and Christopher McBryde and wife Kelli, of Leechburg; great-grandchildren, Shane and Seth Magness, Kara and Kane Pride, Ella and Emmerson McBryde, Cole and Liam McBryde, and Amelie.
Friends will be received from 3-6 p.m. on Wednesday, April 14, 2021 at the Snyder-Crissman Funeral Home, 200 S. McKean St., Kittanning, Pa 16201. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday at the funeral home with Rev. Sarah Heppenstall officiating, with an additional hour of visitation prior to the service. Interment will follow in the Tidal Union Cemetery. Guests attending the visitation and services for Mrs. Hornberger are respectfully asked to wear a mask or face covering and follow all CDC/PA Health Department health and safety protocols. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made in Mrs. Hornberger’s honor to the Tidal Union Cemetery or Orphans of the Storm, PO Box 838, Kittanning, PA 16201.
