Richard L. Walters, 73, of Kittanning, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, August 2, 2022 at the Armstrong County Health Center with his wife and two children by his side.
He was born on November 29, 1948 in Kittanning to the late Edward and Mary Ellen (Scott) Walters.
Richard served in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam Era as a boiler maker on the USS Harwood. He was a proud member of the Kittanning Fireman’s Band and a long time member of the Rayburn Township VFD where he earned the nickname “Blue Blue”. He enjoyed gardening, computer games, and spending time with his family.
He is survived by his wife Kathleen (Cravenor) Walters whom he married on April 4, 1970; daughter Christy Coleman and husband Marty; son Richard Walters Jr and companion Kathleen Peterson all of Kittanning; granddaughter Aubrey (Cumberledge) Hudac and husband Edward of Adrian; grandson Austin Cumberledge of Kittanning; three great-grandchildren Isabella Cumberledge of Ford City, Edward Hudac and Elena Hudac of Adrian; brothers Rev. Edward Walters and wife Diann of Kittanning; barry Walters of Jeannette, and Sister in law Betty Walters of Meadville; also several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother Gary Walters.
Services are private and under the care of the Snyder-Crissman Funeral Home in Kittanning.
