Robert Bullers Obituary

It is with great sorrow that we bid farewell to Robert L. Bullers, who left us on October 21, 2024 at the age of 87. Surrounded by his loving family, Bob passed peacefully at Armstrong County Medical Hospital after suffering complications from a stroke.

Born in Punxsutawney, Pennsylvania on April 19, 1937, Bob was the youngest of eight children. He was preceded in death by two sons, Jeff and Doug; his parents, James I. Bullers, Sr. and Martha (Kuntz); five brothers: William, Thomas, Walter, Wayne, and James; and a sister, Elsie Kennedy.

A long-time resident of Kittanning, Bob is survived by his loving wife of sixty- nine years, Virginia (Snyder); three children: LuAnn and her husband, Ray Barrett of Dayton; Chris and his wife, Brenda (Costanzo) of Shelocta; Tracey and her husband, Dave Slagle of Dayton; ten grandchildren; eighteen great-grandchildren (with a nineteenth due in January 2025); and a sister, Lucianne Brocious of Mayport. Also surviving are numerous nieces and nephews, as well as brothers- and sisters-in-law.

Bob was a man of few words, but his actions spoke volumes. He provided well for his family by becoming a coal miner and truck driver. But above all, Bob was a devoted family man. With the help of family, he accomplished his dream of building a Camp for his kids and grandchildren. Thirty years later, the family still gathers to celebrate birthdays, graduations, holidays, family reunions, hunting, and lazy Sunday afternoons at Camp, where Bob enjoyed giving his children rides in the woods in an old back-firing Jeep or administering playful birthday smacks to their behinds, whether they were four, fourteen, or forty-four.

Bob loved to tease his grandkids, and he gave them nicknames like Kid, Jake 1, Jake 2, Carol, Munster, Krissy, and Weah. His grandchildren remember him as a man who loved seeing his family acting up and having fun. He was the last one to discipline, a man of few words with the biggest heart, and a man who was rarely without his latest devoted “Mutt” by his side. Grandchildren fondly recall camping trips with their grandpa, vacations every summer at Myrtle Beach, and tall tales, like how a snake charmer made Grandpa bald. They will remember him relaxing in his favorite recliner wearing a pair of jeans and a well-worn plaid flannel shirt while grunting approval as he devoured his wife’s Pineapple Upside Down Cake or Boston Cream Pie.

In perhaps the best definition of a life well lived, Bob leaves behind a host of rich memories and a legacy of what it means to be a faithful and loving husband and family man.

We invite you to celebrate Bob’s life by attending his viewing from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. on Friday, October 25 at Snyder-Crissman Funeral Home, 200 S. McKean Street in Kittanning. A funeral service will be held on Saturday, October 26 at 11 a.m. at Christ Rupp Lutheran Church, 228 Rupp Church Road, Kittanning. An additional viewing will be held in the chapel one hour before the service, with dinner served at the church after the service. Private interment will be at Brookville Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to Christ Rupp Lutheran Church or the charity of your choice.
