Robert James Vargo

Robert James Vargo, 93, of Kittanning, died on Friday, July 25, 2025 at QLS Sugarcreek Rest.  He was born in Cadogan, Pa. in 1932, the son of the late John and Mary (Hoculock) Vargo, and was a lifelong resident of the area.  Prior to retirement, he was a mechanic at Tri-County Mac.  Robert was a U.S. Navy veteran, serving on the ships the Coral Sea and Midway.  He was a member of St. Lawrence Roman Catholic Church in Cadogan.  He enjoyed gardening, hunting, fishing, being with his dog, taking photos and home videos of family, listening to polkas, watching Penn State football and spending time with his grandchildren.  He leaves behind to forever cherish his memory, his son, Anthony Vargo and his wife, Dawn, of Viginia; daughter, Tamara Henry and her husband, William, of Kittanning; son, Robert Vargo and his wife, Heather, of Kittanning; grandchildren, Lauren Henry, of Kittanning, Mason Vargo, of Kittanning, Shane, of Virginia and Brittany, of Virginia; sister, Elsie Bearer, of Kittanning; and several great-grandchildren.  In addition to his parents, Robert was preceded in death by his wife, Janet (Kijowski) Vargo; brother, John Vargo; and sister, AnnaMarie (Vargo) Kijowski.  Friends will be received from 9 a.m. until time of funeral service at 11 a.m. on Thursday, July 31, 2025 at the Snyder-Crissman Funeral Home, 200 S. McKean St., Kittanning, Pa.  Interment will be in St. Francis Cemetery, Cadogan, Pa.
