Rose Townsend Obituary

Rose E. Townsend, 74, of Cowansville, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on May 25, 2022 surrounded by her loving daughters and family. Rose was born in September of 1947 and remained a lifelong resident of the Cowansville area. Rose was a loving wife to her late husband Lysle, a devoted mother, doting grandmother/great-grandmother, exceptional sister, and a friend to all. She enjoyed vegetable and flower gardening, campfires and listening to country and bluegrass music, but above all she loved spending time with her family and friends. She was known to many children as “nana” due to her volunteering with several children’s organizations. She also put many smiles on people’s faces while volunteering at a local food pantry. Rose was a member of Chicora Donegal Grange, Brady’s Bend American Legion, Country Music Association and Sherrett United Methodist Church, although she had been attending Allison Park Church – Butler Campus.  Rose was preceded in death by her husband, Lysle T. Townsend; her parents, Thelma (Crawford) and Earl Brunner; siblings, Paul Brunner, Mary Ann Brunner, Charles (Margaret) Brunner, George (Dorothy) Brunner, and Margaret (Larry) Confer; and step-son, Terry T. Townsend.  Rose leaves behind to cherish her memory her daughters, Nancy (Jason) Doverspike and Sharon (Dennis) Lerch; grandchildren, Chelsea Hollobaugh, Ashli Hollobaugh, Elizabeth Lerch-Olson, and James Lerch; great-grandchildren, Zayne, Lyncoln, Lyle, Waylon and Hank-Lee; sister, Martha (Brunner) Jones; and several nieces and nephews.  Rose was loved and adored by all who had the pleasure of knowing her. Her kind spirit, passion for helping others, love and zest for life will live on through surviving family members as she was an inspiration to them. She will be forever missed but never forgotten.  There will be no funeral service being as Rose was a full body donor through Med-Cure; a noble decision she made many years ago. A Celebration of Life service will be held at a future date at Allison Park Church – Butler Campus. Arrangements are entrusted to the Snyder-Crissman Funeral Home in Cowansville, Pa.
