Ruby M. (Yount) Nelson, 98, of Kittanning, passed away Saturday April 11, 2026 at Kittanning Health and Rehab. She was born May 31, 1927 in Mosgrove to the late Edward and Frances (Slagle) Yount. Ruby worked at John Hopkins University in the Applied Physics Laboratory as a secretary and an administrative assistant in the Washington D.C. area for 20 years. She graduated from the Washington D.C. Beauty School Academy. She worked for Jules Hair Stylist as a field supervisor over the Beauty Salons and Beauty School. Ruby was the owner and operator of Ruby Nelson's Hair Stylist in Butler and Kittanning. She also hosted radio programs "Woman to Woman" and "Something Beautiful" on WAYL and WACB. 

Ruby served the Lord for many years in her Christian walk. She was a member of the Cornerstone Assembly of God in Kittanning where she formally served as a Deacon for many years.

She is survived by several nieces and nephews.  Ruby was preceded in death by her husband O. William Nelson who passed away in 1960; infant son Byron Nelson who passed away in 1955; parents Edward and Frances (Slagle) Yount; sister Verda Titus; brother Miles Yount; brother LeRoy Yount; brother Lawrence Yount; brother Gerald Yount; sister Cora Hoover; sister Betty Schrecengost; brother Donald Yount.

Friends will be received on Tuesday April 14,  2026 at the Snyder-Crissman Funeral Home in Kittanning from 2:00 to 4:00 and 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. A funeral service will be held on Wednesday April 15, 2026 at 11:00 A.M. in the Cornerstone Assembly of God Church in Kittanning with Pastor Mike Bobbitt officiating. Additional visitation will be held at the church from 10:00 A.M. until the time of the service. Interment is in the Smicksburg Cemetery.
