Shirley Jean (Beard) Carson

Shirley Jean Carson, 87 of Kittanning, passed away peacefully Friday August 5, 2022 under Three Rivers Hospice care at Quality Life Services in Sarver. She was born June 24, 1935 in Schenectady, New York to the late Harry and Jane (Crowter) Beard Sr.

During her Earthly journey Shirley lived in Baltimore, MD, Dayton, PA Dade City, Fl, and Kittanning, PA, where she resided with her daughter Susan. Aside from being a mother of three, Shirley spent her working years serving as a nurse and nurse supervisor.

On September 24, 1953 she married Kenneth Ray Carson, and they were married 55 years until his passing in 2009. After his passing she created a widows club in Florida called the “Widows Domino Group that would get together and play dominos. She was also an avid reader who enjoyed reading books.

Shirley was born again on April 20, 2022.

Shirley is survived by her children Kathleen (Dale) Scholz of Halethorpe, MD, Susan (Slim) Carson Bowser of Kittanning, and Dwight Patrick (Barbara) Carson of Dade City, FL; grandchildren Monica (Brian) Simpkins, Lara (David) Cooper, Elizabeth Shiring, Allison (Jared) Mechling, Edward Carson , and Patrick Carson; great grandchildren Timothy Simpkins, Ella Simpkins, Erin Simpkins, Nora Cooper, Bryn Cooper, Chloe Armstrong, and Cayden Mechling. Her dear friends Bebe Cain and Ola Brown from the Dominos group. Many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Kenneth Ray Carson; sisters Beverly Penn and Nancy Weber; brother Harry Beard Jr.

The family would like to express great appreciation to everyone at QLS Sarver and Three Rivers Hospice for their loving care.
