Shirley Gertrude (Dunn) Edwards

Shirley Gertrude (Dunn) Edwards, 86, of Kittanning, passed away on Friday, June 3, 2022 in her home surrounded by her family.  She was born March 1, 1936 in Fawn Township.  She was the daughter of the late Louis and Daisy (Martz) Dunn.  She loved her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and her church family.  She was a member of Furnace Run Chapel for 68 years, serving on the missionary board, teaching Sunday School and VBS and serving anyway she could help.  Shirley married Raymond (Jim) Edwards on September 1, 1952 and they had 56 years of marriage.  Shirley was a homemaker.  She was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and great-great grandmother. She was blessed to be in a 5-generation picture.  She cherished her family and her friends and fed them in her home and camped with them for many years.  She and her husband loved to camp and visited all 48 continental states in their motor homes.  She crocheted many afghans and blankets for her loved ones and she was known for her cooking and baking by many. 

Left behind to cherish her memory includes: her son, Raymond and Barbara (Carlesi) Edwards; her son, James and JoAnna (Oliver) Edwards; her daughter, Sherlene and Cory Franceschi; grandchildren include Kierstin Edwards, Raymond and Jennifer Edwards, Sarah and Matthew Moore, Heather Birckbichler and David Hodak, Alyssa and Andy Miller, James and Keri Edwards, Julia and Justin Morelli, Justine and Shawn Freeman, Jocelyn and Ben Gifford, Mallorie and Shane Wyncoop, Amanda and Jeremy Rybarik, Cora Franceschi and Mike Burkey; 22 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren; her sister, Judy Westerman; and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, Shirley was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond (Jim) Edwards; sisters, Bertha Black, Lois Regard, Evelyn Dowling, Beverly Long, Janet Haley and Donna Spratt; and brothers, Roy Dunn, Arnold Dunn, and 2 infant brothers, Louis and Arthur. 

Friends will be received on Monday, June 6, 2022 from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. at the Snyder-Crissman Funeral Home, 200 S. McKean St, Kittanning, Pa.  Additional visitation will be held on Tuesday, June 7, at Furnace Run Chapel, 154 Montgomery Rd, Kittanning from 10-11 a.m. with funeral services to immediately follow at 11 a.m. with Shirley’s son, Pastor Jimmy Edwards officiating.  Interment will be in Lawn Haven Burial Estates.
