Shirley Jean (Mills) Smith, 85, of Kittanning, passed away on Monday, Oct. 20, 2025 at her home. She was born March 17, 1940 in Kittanning, the daughter of the late Roy and Annabelle (Fiscus) Mills, and she was a lifelong resident of the community. She worked at The Cadet, Royle Allegheny and lastly at IUP, where she retired from. She attended First Church of God in Kittanning and enjoyed gardening, baking, crocheting, playing UNO and spending time with her family. Her motto was "a cookie fixes everything!"
Left behind to forever cherish her memory includes her sons, Larry R. (Carolyn) Smith, Jr., Jeffrey S. (Beth) Smith, Matthew L. (Marsha) Smith and Randall D. (Carrie) Smith, all of Kittanning; grandchildren, Timothy K. (Elizabeth) Smith, of Kittanning, Ashley (Cole) Craig, of Ford City, Matthew L. (Rachel) Smith Jr., of Kittanning, Hannah (Jeremy) Dixon, of Worthington, Autumn (Tyler) Long, of Sarver, Samantha (Nathan) Cousins, of Kittanning, Troy Smith, of Kittanning and Cole Smith, of Kittanning; great-grandchildren, Annabelle Smith, of Kittanning, Ziva Craig, of Ford City, Isabelle Smith, of Kittanning, Brett Pickett (Martina), of Kittanning, Evanna J. Smith, of Kittanning, Reece Dixon, of Worthington, Tate Smith, of Kittanning, Lee Smith, of Kittanning, Colter Dixon, of Worthington and Asher Cousins, of Kittanning; brother, Edward (Peggy) Mills, of Ocala, Fl.; sisters, Margaret Rowan, of Elderton and Betty Wright, of Ford City; brothers, Robert (Penny) Mills, of Kittanning and Richard (Peggy) Mills, of Elderton; and sisters-in-law, Peggy Mills, of Elderton and Linda Mills, of Illinois. In addition to her parents, Shirley was preceded in death by her husband, Larry R. Smith, whom she married May 23, 1959; sister, Janet Moyer; and brothers, James and Timothy Mills.
Friends will be received from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 23, 2025 at the Snyder-Crissman Funeral Home, 200 S. McKean St., Kittanning, PA. Additional visitation will be held at the funeral home on Friday, Oct. 24, from 10 a.m. until time of funeral service at 11 a.m., with Pastor Brittany Alfredo officiating. Interment be in Lawn Haven Burial Estates.
