Steve Humenik Obituary

Steve Paul Humenik, 88, passed away on Monday, March 21, 2022, in Kittanning. He was born on January 22, 1934, in the Fairgrounds in Ford City. The son of the late Michael and Frances Humenik grew up on a farm having horses, cattle, pigs, chickens, ducks, and many fruit orchards with his six sisters and six brothers.
At 17, Steve enrolled in the Army to be with his brother Paul. He was in the 7th Division Recom, operating machine guns frontline in the Korean War, serving from 1951-1954. Shortly after coming home, his mother passed away, and a couple of months he met, fell in love, and married Angeline Humenik (Zambotti) of 67 years.
Steve worked at Pullman Standard in Butler as a painter of railroad cars. During his retirement, he enjoyed taking his family to the 5 Brothers Camp near Medix Run, hunting with his son Steve Jr. and grandson Stephen, being outdoors doing gardening, and watching the wildlife on his homestead every day.
His greatest joy was being with his grandchildren, Stephen and Angelina Humenik, the light of his life. He prayed faithfully for his family, wearing out his prayer book with faded words and frayed pages. He lived a simple and good life with his family and friends.
Left behind to cherish Steve's memory are his wife, Angeline (Zambotti) Humenik, married on November 12, 1955, his son Stephen (Kim) Humenik Jr., daughter Sheri Humenik, of Kittanning, and two grandchildren: Stephen Humenik and Angelina Anna Rose Humenik, of Kittanning, step-grandchild Mary (Chad) Emmonds, and his brother Albert (Marlene) Humenik, of Ford City, along with brother-in-law Alex Boback and numerous nieces and nephews.
Steve was preceded in death by his parents, sisters Mary, Rose, Annie, Josephine, Elizabeth, Margie, and his brothers Joseph, Charlie, Frank, Paul, and nephew Joseph.
As per Steve's wishes, there will be no funeral services. Arrangements are entrusted to the Snyder-Crissman Funeral Home in Kittanning.
