Susan Benvenuti Obituary

Susan Bruce Benvenuti, 76, of Kittanning, PA, passed away peacefully on May 17th, 2025, surrounded by her family’s love. A devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother, Susan shared a beautiful life with her husband, Peter J. Benvenuti. In her final 9 years, as her health declined with Frontal Temporal Dementia, Peter cared for her with the same unwavering devotion and tender love that Susan had tirelessly and willingly given to him and their family throughout their life together. Their love was steady, selfless, spiritual, and mutual… a true partnership in every sense.

Born on January 24th, 1949, in Chelsea, MI., Susan was the eldest of five children to the late Malcolm and Mary Bruce. Raised in Scott Township, she lived a life grounded in compassion, faith, and quiet strength. She earned her degree from Clarion University and spent time working, teaching, and excelling in special education early in her career… just one example of the many ways she loved giving of herself to others.

Susan was the heart of her family. She brought everyone together with her warmth, selflessness, and grace. Alongside her husband, she helped run their family bakery and other various ventures, always offering steadfast support behind the scenes with tireless love. Her greatest joy was time spent with family… whether during holidays, celebrations, or simply sitting together at the table.

A woman of deep faith, Susan was a devoted member of St. Mary’s, Our Lady of Guadalupe Parish, where she and Peter served as Eucharistic Ministers. Her kindness, humility, and quiet devotion left a lasting impression on everyone who knew her.

Susan is survived by her beloved husband of 54 years, Peter J. Benvenuti; her sons, Peter B. Benvenuti and his wife Kristie; Andrew Benvenuti and his fiancée Jamie Bono; her grandchildren, Alexis Szymanski and her husband Luke, Nicholas Benvenuti and his fiancée Mia Bowers, and Nichole Benvenuti; her great-grandchildren, Kaisley and Kaden Szymanski. She is also survived by her siblings, Camille Petrone, Bridget Bruce, and Fred Bruce and his wife Janna; and several nieces and nephews.  She was preceded in death by her sister, Deborah, and her parents, Malcolm and Mary Bruce.

Susan’s legacy is one of love, strong faith, and family. Family was everything to her. She will be deeply missed and forever cherished.
