Sylvia J. Shuster

Sylvia J. Shuster, beloved mother, grandmother, and friend, passed away peacefully on November 14, 2025 at the age of 85 surrounded by her loving family.  She was born May 2, 1940 in Norfolk, Virginia and moved with her family to Kittanning where she grew up on Troy Hill and graduated from Kittanning Senior High School.

Throughout her life, Sylvia was a source of unwavering love, strength and guidance to her family and friends. She married Edmund M. Shuster on September 27, 1958 and together they built a life filled with love and cherished memories. Together they raised four children; Wendy J. (John) Buzard, Heidi L. (Brad) Flick, Jennifer Ours, and Edmund N. (Kim) Shuster, who will forever be grateful for love and support.

Sylvia had a passion for coloring and putting together puzzles which she enjoyed and often gave the pictures she colored as gifts. She was known for her love of God and her unwavering faith which she shared with anyone she talked to.

in addition to her children Sylvia is survived by 13 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren, and many other relatives and friends who were touched by her warmth and kindness.

Sylvia made it clear throughout her later years that she did not want any viewing or ceremony upon her death and her family is respecting her wishes.  in lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Sylvia's name to the Orphan's of the Storm Animal Shelter, which was close to her heart.  Arrangements are under the care of the Snyder-Crissman Funeral Home in Kittanning.
