Theora M. "Dolly" (Brice) Rearick

Theora Mable “Dolly” Brice Rearick, died peacefully Tuesday, 6 February 2024, in Stanardsville, VA. Theora was born 23 March 1930 in Worthington, PA and continuously worked hard for her family leaving school before high school to help her mother care for her eleven siblings. As a young teen she worked as a housekeeper to supplement the family’s income until 1950 when she met her beloved, Orman Lewis “Sonny” Rearick SFC; US Army Reserves Retired. Thankfully, Sonny’s buddies, Bill and Fred, AKA Uncle Bill and Uncle Fred, did not allow him to give up on getting Dolly to dance, but convinced him to ask her just one more time. The third time was the charm. 

After getting married and starting a family, Theora studied cosmetology receiving her beautician license and opening a business in Indiana, PA, Rearick’s Barber and Beauty. She later worked for IUP for their generous benefits: health insurance, vacation, retirement, and free tuition for children. After retirement from IUP, Theora worked nights cleaning offices until Orman’s health declined, and her attention needed to shift.  Mr. and Mrs. Orman Rearick shared fifty-two wonderful years together raising a family and operating a successful business. Theora will be remembered for her amazing work ethic, and love of family.  She enjoyed puzzles, crocheting, and sewing.  She will be deeply missed. 

Theora is preceded in death by her parents, Leslie Charles and Mary Bell Brice; seven brothers, Donny, Arthur, Richard, Lloyd, Samuel, Robert, and Homer Brice; and four sisters, Fonda Geraldine Brice, Emma Jean Harkleroad, Esther McMillen, and Frances Adams.  Theora is survived by one sister, Dorothy Craft; four children, Lewis Orman & wife Sarah, Kenneth Neal & wife Karen, Alvin James, and Elaine Carol Rearick Holly & husband Leo Holly; three grandchildren: Walter Lewis & wife Whitney, Charles Hunter, and Katherine Evangeline Holly; and one great-grandchild, Jacob Wyatt Rearick. 

Family and friends will be received from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday, February 21, 2024 at the F. DUANE SNYDER FUNERAL HOME, 119 Bear St., Worthington, PA where services will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, Feb. 22, 2024.  Interment will be in West Glade Run Cemetery.
