Thomas Blechschmidt Obituary

     Thomas Joseph Blechschmidt, 91, of Worthington, passed away on Wednesday, September 8, 2021 at Quality Life Services Sugarcreek.  He was born June 28, 1930 in Parma, Ohio, a son of the late William and Margaret Blechschmidt.  He was of the Roman Catholic faith, and a member of the Kiwanis and Lions Club.  Thomas was a retired banking executive.  He adored his family and made everyone feel cherished. He retired early from Citizens Bank to care for his wife and provide her with the best possible life.  He was a Little League coach, Indian Guide, avid golfer, bowler, soap box derby supporter, avid reader, and loved his crossword puzzles and Wild Turkey.  

     Left behind to cherish his memory includes his wife of 67 years, Joan Blechschmidt, of Worthington; daughter, Laura Yarosh (Scott), of Parma, OH; son, Hugh Blechschmidt (Joyce), of Pensacola, FL; daughter, Anne Gibbs (Eric), of Kittanning; daughter, Amy Hribal (Bob), of Moon Township, PA; grandchildren, Thomas, Christian, Jasmine, Chantal, Jean-Maurice, Bradley, and Mikayla; 10 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.  In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Hugh Blechschmidt, who was KIA in WWII; sister, Ruth Yusko; and brother, Bill Blechschmidt.

     The family would like to extend their deepest gratitude to all the staff at Quality Life Services – Sugarcreek, who provided excellent care and an abundance of love, dignity, and compassion throughout his stay.  

     Friends will be received from 2-4 p.m. with funeral service to immediately follow at 4 p.m. on Wednesday, September 15, 2021 at Kennedy & Blodgett Funeral Home, 253 N. Grant Ave., Kittanning, Pa.  In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Don't Stop Dreamin', a program which helps elders achieve their dreams, at www.dontstopdreamin.org/donate.
