Zelda Eileen (Claypool) Hawk was born on March 18, 1936, to Clarence Rictor Claypool and Zelda Genevieve (Cloak) Claypool in Worthington, Pennsylvania. On July 3, 2024, Eileen passed away peacefully in Lecanto, Florida after 88 years gracing us with her sweet voice and generous heart.

Eileen was preceded in death by her husband of 40 years, Daniel Leroy Hawk.  Together, Dan and Eileen created a large and blessed family through their 5 children, 20 grandchildren, 29 great grandchildren, and 6 great great grandchildren. Her legacy as loving wife and mother begins with her children: Brenda J. (Hawk) Shaffer and husband, Philip; T. Daniel Hawk and wife Kathleen (Pelczar); Randy A. Hawk and wife Kathryn (Kepler), Andrea K. Hawk and partner Thomas Brabenec; Christopher M. Hawk and wife Chistina (Mix); and grandchildren Erica, Loren, Adam, Shawn, Bill, Jennifer, Stephan, Keri, Joe, Teresa, Jennifer, Tracy, Rebekah, Josee, Kara, Ash, Jake, Max, Gavin, and Sophia; and cherished great grandchildren and great great grandchildren.

Eileen’s faith was a driving force in her life from a young age. She spoke fondly of walking alone to Franklin Union Baptist Church every Sunday as a child. Dan and Eileen were longtime members of Worthington Lutheran Church, where she sang in the choir each Sunday. When they relocated to Sidney, Ohio, they found their church family at Good Shepherd’s Baptist Church. After Dan’s passing in 1997, Eileen moved to Clearwater, Florida and again found comfort in a new church family at Oakwood Community Church.

While she was known for her work in banking, real estate, and property management, Eileen was also regarded as a singer, performer, and a skilled crossword and jigsaw puzzler. But always first and foremost for Eileen was family. She reveled in time around the dining room table or a crackling campfire, absorbing the love and laughter of her clan.

We trust that Eileen is now again hand-in-hand with her husband, Dan and her heavenly Father, surrounded by other family members who preceded her in death: her parents, brother Eugene, sisters Delores and Ann Marie, beloved nephews, and grandchildren Shawn A. Hawk and Rebekah I. Hawk.

Friends will be received at the F. Duane Snyder Funeral Home, 119 Bear St., Worthington, Pa. on Thursday, July 11 from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. with funeral services immediately following at 5 p.m, with Pastor Earl Shaffer presiding.
