Ruth A. Smith, 81, of Kittanning, died Saturday, Dec. 9, 2017, at ACMH Hospital.  She was born on February 29, 1936, in Kittanning to the late Alfred and Hazel (Bowser) Smith.  Ruth worked at G.C. Murphy’s in Ford City since she was 16 years old, and then most recently at Wal-Mart.  She was a member of the Center Hill Church of the Brethren, where she was a Sunday School Secretary.  Ruth loved her flower gardens, and attending activities at church, and spending time with her family.  Survivors include three sisters, Gertrude Bowser of Hadley, Pa., Sara (Harry) Claypoole of State College, Pa., and Nancy (Paul) Shutters of Kittanning; a brother, Thomas (Linda) Smith Kittanning; and numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.  She was preceded in death by her parents; and a sister, Glenna Smith.  Friends will be received from noon until the time of the service at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 12, 2017, at the Center Hill Church of the Brethren, with the Rev. Donald Peters officiating.  Interment will be the Center Hill Church of the Brethren Cemetery.
